Jaime
Some nights change everything. For Jaime, it was a summer night in Camden, NJ — July 1998 — when she saw Dave Matthews Band live for the first time. One show with friends… and she was hooked.
Since then, DMB’s music has been woven into some of the biggest and best moments of her life — from catching Carter Beauford’s drumstick (yes, seriously!) to hilarious memories with her best friend Christy. (Like the time they lost each other in the pit and realized the Carrot Top was their landmark. You can’t make that up.)
But it’s not just the funny stories. It’s the big moments, too — like the night her husband proposed during “Crush” at a show in Holmdel, NJ. Their song, their moment. There's even a video — and yep, she still cries every time she watches it.
When you ask Jaime, to pick a favorite DMB song or lyric, she can’t choose just one. It changes with life — sometimes upbeat, sometimes deep tracks only. The songs are tied to memories and the people who have shaped her story, past and present.
When she listens to DMB, it’s pure happiness. It’s the chills you get when a lyric hits just right. It’s dancing like nobody's watching — the only time, she says, she truly doesn’t care what anyone else thinks.
For her session, she brought along old ticket stubs, a photo album from the days when we all carried cameras around, and that iconic drumstick from Carter. We surrounded her in cheerful colors — pink, turquoise, yellow — to match the joy she feels when the music plays.
And honestly? You can see it in every photo.
"I’m happiest when I’m at a show."
And that’s exactly what we captured — happiness, heart, and a lifetime of music in every frame.
